What is a driver’s card for the digital tachograph?
All vehicles that after entry into service in the year 2006, which offer more than 9 seats need a digital tachograph for any border crossing transportation of passengers. The driver’s card is being used in the commercial passenger transportation by the driver in order to individually record data using the digital tachograph about the amount of time spent while driving, working or resting.
Do I need a driver’s card, if I rent a minibus with a maximum weight below 3.5 tons with maximum 16+1 seats?
> In case you drive for your company, your family, your club, a group of staff or privately, with remuneration from the passengers: For all of Europe: No!
> In case you operate the vehicle commercially for passenger transportation: Yes!
> In case you still want to order a driver’s card as a private driver and use the tachograph, you may do this of course. The card can be ordered by each person owning a Swiss driver’s licence at www.dfs.astra.admin.ch for about CHF 70.-. In case you do not hold a Swiss driver’s licence, please get the required information about the driver’s card at your transportation authority of your country of origin.
Do I need a driver’s card, if I drive a midibus or a Coach OVER 3.5 tons of maximum weight, offering 16+1 or more seats?
